Marking the International Day of Peace, the Geneva Peace Talks will take place on Monday, 21 September 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The 2020 edition of the Geneva Peace Talks is organized under the theme “Shaping Peace.” The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical need for greater solidarity and cooperation and the Geneva Peace Talks offer a moment to reflect on how each and every one of us can contribute to promoting peace in a meaningful way.

Speakers will represent a range of backgrounds and experiences, including, for example, Ms. Adiba Qasim, who became a human rights advocate and a Young Leader in Foreign and Security Policy at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) after fleeing an ISIL massacre in northern Iraq; Ms. Roberta Ventura, a social entrepreneur supporting refugees in Palestine through ethical fashion and Mr. Ahmed Abdullahi, a peacebuilder who has been working in East Africa and who currently serves as Programme Coordinator for Interpeace in Somalia. Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Geneva Peace Talks will be streamed online using the following link: www.peacetalks.net.

This year’s Geneva Peace Talks are co-organized again by the United Nations Office at Geneva, Interpeace and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, in partnership with the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations Office and to other international organizations in Geneva.

The Geneva Peace Talks are an annual highlight of International Geneva. We look forward to your participation, which will send a strong signal of support and demonstrate our collective commitment to peace across the world.
